When Hawaii was a kingdom and Queens and Princesses rode horseback to balls, they’d wrap themselves up in gorgeous, long, and colorful skirts called Pa’u (pronounced pah-oo).

Polo is a Noble Sport

Polo was first played in Hawaii before it was played anywhere else in the United States under the reign of King David Kalakaua. The first documented match occurred on a field in Palama in 1880 between British Naval Officers and local residents.
